Our projects
Sea Level Rise Explorer
— Stinson Beach, CA.
Sea Level Rise Explorer: Stinson Beach is a collaboration between Virtual Planet, Marin County, and the California Ocean Protection Council, the film illustrates the impacts of sea level rise and storms on Stinson Beach while showcasing proactive solutions.
Sea Level Rise Explorer
— West Palm Beach, FL.
Funded by a FL state grant, the VR experience was developed by a team of experts at Virtual Planet and FAU, who leveraged their expertise in computer science, engineering, art, and psychology to create a truly unique and engaging experience. In collaboration with the City of West Palm Beach, the team has created a virtual environment that allows users to explore and interact with the city in a way that has never been possible before. This new virtual reality experience offers a variety of exciting features, including realistic virtual environments, interactive experiences, and immersive storytelling. Whether you're interested in exploring the city's vibrant culture, experiencing its rich history, or simply having some fun, this new virtual reality experience is designed to meet your needs.
Reimagining the Forest City
Visualizing a Cooler Cleveland
Climate change impacts are affecting every part of the globe. In this virtual reality video, “Reimaging the Forest City” you will meet Derek, a local high student learning about a phenomenon called “urban heat island”. Derek will share the past, present and future of his neighborhood and the impacts of a warming climate on an aging neighborhood as well as some options to slow the effects of global warming. We invite you to join us for this virtual visit to the Clark Fulton Neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio.
Creating Safe Passage
A virtual reality experience of the groundbreaking construction of the HW17 wildlife tunnel at Laurel Curve.
Graniterock, Caltrans, Virtual Planet Technologies and the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County have teamed up to create a virtual reality experience of the groundbreaking construction of the HW17 wildlife tunnel at Laurel Curve. The tunnel will provide long-ranging wildlife—most notably Santa Cruz mountain lions—with safe passage under the heavily trafficked highway.
Dive
An Inspiring Journey through California's Marine Protected Areas
Save Our Shores, Virtual Planet Technologies, and Oceans360 have teamed up to create a virtual reality experience of our region's Marine Protected Areas to offer middle school students a glimpse of these magnificent underwater treasures and learn why they are vital to the health of our oceans and a healthy future of all life on Earth. Coastal Quest and Ocean Protection Council provided seed funding for this groundbreaking initiative.
Sea Level Rise Explorer
— Long Beach, CA.
The goal of this project was to shape a community dialogue around sea level rise adaptation and the role of managed retreat in one of California’s largest coastal cities, Long Beach. The goal of these dialogues is to find ways of engaging residents that empower them to participate in the design of future communities. With the help of Virtual Planet Technologies, TNC California developed a virtual reality (VR) experience with the community to visualize sea level rise impacts and potential solutions for Long Beach. The VR serves as a tool to catalyze community discussions about current and future risk and options for long-term resilience, including controversial topics like managed retreat.
Sea Level Rise Explorer
— Elkhorn Slough, CA.
Elkhorn Slough contains the 3rd largest extent of salt marsh in California and supports extraordinary biodiversity. This low lying area is extremely vulnerable to flooding, including several miles of Highway 1. This experience illustrates potential flooding impacts and proposed solutions to restore the marsh and protect this important transportation corridor from climate change.
Wildfire Explorer
— Paradise, CA.
Sea Level Rise Explorer
— Santa Cruz, CA.
As coastal communities contend with sea-level rise, coastal erosion, and other impacts of climate change, public education has become a critical piece of the puzzle. Virtual Planet Technologies produces insightful and immersive experiences that communities can use to better understand the impacts of climate change and explore emerging adaptation solutions.
Sea Level Rise Explorer
